Green comet closest to Earth February 1- How To Watch
Prepare for an extraordinary cosmic extravaganza! On February 1, comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) will be visible with the unaided eye from Earth, giving astronomers and space enthusiasts the chance to witness an extraordinary spectacle. On this day, the comet will approach the closest to Earth and would be seen from almost all of India as well as other countries.
This comet with a greenish tint features a tadpole-shaped tail that spreads out for millions of kilometres around its core. It recently finished its orbit around the Sun and is currently travelling to the solar system’s outermost regions.
When the Green Comet gets closest to Earth, it will be 42 million kilometres distant from the planet’s surface on a cosmic scale. What sets the comet apart from other objects is its 50,000-year orbit around the Sun. When it passed by Earth the last time, Neanderthals still roamed the world and modern people hadn’t yet evolved.
The Green Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) will not be easily visible to the human eye and would require a binocular and clear, dark sky for good observation, according to Shilpi Gupta, a Scientific Officer at the Birla Planetarium in Kolkata. For the greatest viewing, it is advised to travel to a region with less light pollution because city light pollution might obstruct viewing. Stargazers will be able to detect the feeble comet travelling across the sky under these circumstances.
It was visible on Monday between Polaris, the North Star, and the Big Dipper. And on Wednesday, it was set up to look close to the Camelopardalis constellation, which is bounded by Ursa Major, the Big Dipper, and the Little Dipper.
If the sky are clear and dark, after 9:30 PM will be the best time to watch Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF). Look south of the Pole Star to find the comet with a greenish hue in the sky above India. When it ultimately reaches the head of the constellation of Orion, the comet will be travelling in a southerly direction.
Space enthusiasts will have the chance to see this celestial spectacle in numerous regions of India, including West Bengal, Odisha, Ladakh, and the northeastern provinces. You may observe the comet’s motion and distinctive greenish hue with clear skies and a little bit of patience.
